In 2021, “Disappearing,” a personal essay about dementia, took Honourable Mention in the 2021 Victoria Writers Society Annual Contest and published in Island Writer Magazine, vol. 19, Winter 2021.

In 2012, “Formative Years,” an essay about Sharon’s childhood on Lulu Island–now called Richmond, BC–was published in Writing the West Coast: Artful Identities, Key Publishing House.
